How Could I Use This Dress in a Disney Costume?
Ok so basically I bought a dress for homecoming before I knew it had a theme. The theme is Disney, but I still want to wear this dress. Because, as you can probably guess, this dress can’t be worn on many occasions, as it’s kind of odd. So what kind of disney costume could I make out of this dress? It’s strapless and I’d probably wear black leggings with it. I don’t want to alter it in any way (cut or sew on etc), but I could always buy other props to wear with it.

The pattern looks ethnic so I was thinking at first something from Mulan or Aladdin. But my favorite suggestion so far is Esmerelda from hunch back. I think that could definitely work. Opinions? Ideas?
I realize that that dress doesn’t look like the dress that Esmerelda is wearing in the movie. You don’t have to be rude about it. My goal is not to perfectly immitate it. I’m just trying to use the dress in the way that’ll make me have the vibe or at least vauge resemblance of a character.
I think any of those ideas could work. If you’re going for Esmerelda, wear one big hoop earring in your left ear & a stud in your right, then add big bangles & a bandana over your curled hair. It’ll give you the perfect excuse to take off your shoes while dancing.
That’s the character I think would work best with the dress, but you could adapt Mulan to it as well. In reality, the Indian culture wouldn’t favor this dress unless you are wearing those poofy, free flowing pants along with it, which I’m sure you’re not so into for homecoming at least. Halloween, on the other hand, leaves open that option. Then you’d get to wear the dress more than once.
Esmerelda is perfect for it. That could totally work. By the way, LOVE the dress.
ya i thought of esmerlda
Well, I hate to say it, but the dress doesn’t fit for any of the princess’. Can the dress be returned??? I think that it is ethnic looking and you could probably make it work some how if you had to, but Esmerelda, Mulan and Jasmine didn’t wear dresses like that one!
That’s a hard one to work with, but I would have to agree with whoever suggested Esmeralda. Maybe try to find a belt that looks like coins or something. Jewelry is gonna be a must if you pick that character.
THe girl from hunchback would be PERFECT!! Put one of those like ribbons in your hair and i would be PErfect! Love the dress mine is simalar hah
esmerelda would be really good…just find a gold thing for around your head…gold braclets..if possible go bare foot…if not skin tone ballet flats…or gold shoes…
here’s a good image to look at for jewelry to match

You’ll get laughed at for this sad interpretation of Esmeralda. Ever seen the movie? That dress doesn’t come close. Maybe if Essie left France and all her friends behind and moved to a slum in Mexico to become a prostitute…THEN maybe….
Please, I implore you…don’t make a fool of yourself. If you’re going to do Disney, do it big or just stay home.
Go with the Jungle Book. It seems Indian more than Gypsy, and Esme’s outfit was very different.
I really like the Esmerelda idea, don’t listen to the other people. No leggings, that’d be pushing it. Wear big hoops, chunky bangles, and a headband/bandana with your hair halfcurly hairstraight (straight on top/ curly on bottom)
