How to Make a Kids Costume?
I want to make a costume for my 9 year old. She wants to be a Domino. Yea I know that’s odd, but she likes to play domino’s so its not really that odd. I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas. Thanks

Well, you could always paint a large box (right size, of course, & head/arm holes) but if you have the time & interest it might be more comfortable for her if you make the costume out of foam.
At most fabric shops (Joann’s, Hancock, etc.) you can buy big flat pieces of soft foam. Many towns have upholstery shops which sell foam too. (Just look for the cheepest). Lay two large pieces (maybe 1.5′ x 2.5′ & 3" thick) together and whip stitch or maybe glue (you’ll have to look closely and decide the best way) the "shoulders" together (leaving plenty of space for her head to pop through) and do the same on the sides (leaving space for arms). In fact, it may be best to stitch THROUGH the foam, back to front, about two inches down from the top edge.
After making the foam "sandwhich" you can either make a black fabric "pillowcase" for it, with white felt dots glued on (& head/arm holes, of course), or spray paint it (careful with the paint though, some paints may eat away the foam).
You can make the big white dots with paint too, but you might want to brush in on carefully by hand, or make a stencile that you can paint onto.
Then again, the cardboard box may be easier…
(but harder to walk in! and the "shorter" the box or foam is, the better… it is SO hard to walk when you can take a step bigger than 4 inches!)
Good luck!
